Chevrolet Camaro 1968 Description
Up for sale 1968 Camaro SS 396. True factory SS big block car. I bought the car in 1995 and sold it to my Dad in 2005 and listing it for him on Ebay. The following has been done to the car:Body: New GM quarter panels and outer wheelhouses on both sides. New GM front fenders and inner fenders both sides. New GM front header panel. All other panels are in excellent condition no dents or body filler. Painted in 1993 Chrysler Emerald green. Original paint was British Racing Green which was actually a Corvette color for 1968. Engine: 396-375 4 bolt main block with TRW 11. 1 forged pistons. Comp Cam . 595 lift and 292 duration with solid flat tappet lifters. Heads are rare aluminum 1967 vintage L-88 closed chamber. Motor was built in the mid 90's but has very low miles I would say in the 500 mile range since the rebuild. This is not the original block. Judging by the redline of the factory tach this was a 396/350 hp car. However as we know with these cars it could have been changed along the way but I have had this car apart and spent a lot of hours crawling around it and it doesn't look like that part had been disturbed. Unfortunately with Vin and Cowl tags those years there is no way of running the numbers to know for sure. I will say with confidence it is a factory big block car because it has 5 leaf springs. the heater core is positioned like that of a big block car. and of course the tach like I mentioned earlier. The speedometer has been changed so the mileage recorded is the mileage on the odometer but the speedometer came out of a 67 Camaro. Transmission: Muncie M-21 with Hurst shifter. Rear End: GM 12 Bolt with 3:08 gears non posi Exhaust: Log manifolds with stainless steel aftermarket mufflers and pipes. Extras/misc. : Car has 4 wheel manual drum brakes but does have power steering. Car is non-AC car. Interior: Factory black standard. Passenger seat has been recovered. new headliner. carpet. nbsp;and dashpad. Have a new GM AM radio for the car but it is not installed as of right now. Car has tic toc tach. The tach works but the clock doesn't. Has console gauges and all of that works except the oil pressure gauge and it does actually work but isn't hooked up. Reason being it only reads to 80 psi and the engine will put out more than that at time so it has an Auto Meter oil pressure gauge mounted neatly under the dash. Other parts: I have the front bumper and all mounting hardware. I just liked the non front bumper look so I left it off. I also have new GM still in the paper wheel well moldings. I got them for the car but couldn't bring myself to drill the holes in the body to mount them. The emergency brake system is completely new as well. (Pictured) Call are also welcome as well as in person views. Car is in southeastern N. C. 910-233-6562
