Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1962 Description
Up for auction is our very original 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air Wagon. This wagon was sold new in Cheyenne, Wyoming at Tyrrell Chevrolet. It spent its entire life in the dry climate of Wyoming, western Nebraska and Colorado thus its RUST FREE.The original owners of this wagon kept the car for over 40 years and has only had one owner since. Always garaged and pampered……….This wagon is a TRUE SURVIVOR.
The paint is mostly all original in Twilight Blue and Ermine White lacquer. There are a few very small spots where it has been touched up over the years and two lite creases on the left rear quarter (by the rear bumper) and right front door down low. Overall, the paint has a great sheen and shows very well and I would say about 95% of the paint is factory original. All of the brightwork is original and very nice with no pitting or major imperfections. All of the glass is original and in beautiful condition as well. The wheels are the original 14x6 wide offset, station wagon wheels with perfect Bel Air poverty caps and new whitewall radial tires.
The interior is in amazing condition throughout. Most wagons were full of children and pets thus the interiors got heavy wear. Not the case with this wagon; the seats, door panels, head liner and dash are all original and show almost no wear. They are beautiful! The carpet had some wear and a stain from when the heater core was replaced, so the carpet is new, original style carpet with the original rubber mats back in place. I can say when replacing the carpet, the floors are absolutely perfect with not one ounce of rust. The red oxide is still glossy and perfect! The dash in this car is beautiful, all of the gauges are crisp and work perfectly including the “cold” light. The speedo is smooth and accurate with only 76,000 miles registering on the odometer. Im sure these miles are accurate and it shows throughout the entire car. Radio, turn signals, wipers, lights, horn, power rear window all work great! The door glass windows crank up and down with ease and are smooth. Original spare, jack, and hardware are all in-place.
Under the hood is also very original and numbers matching. This wagon is optioned with the 250hp 327, power glide automatic, posi-traction rear differential, dual exhaust, power brakes and power steering making it a real pleasure to drive. The engine is smooth with no smoke or oil leaks and the transmission is also solid with no leaks. Many maintenance and tune-up items have been completed such as; fuel and water pump, plug wires, points, plugs, hoses, all fluids and filters replaced. The brakes have been serviced with new wheel cylinders, liners and a rebuilt booster and work very well. The power steering has all new hoses, control valve and cylinder making the steering very smooth and leak free.
This wagon is a fantastic driving car that is very tight and solid. Even going over rail road tracks its quiet and smooth. I have driven it a lot lately and it’s very dependable and fun to drive, it seems like everywhere it goes we’re getting a thumbs up!
