Chevrolet Impala 1966 Description
For Sale 1966 impala, This car is owned by Film Industry production rentals in Montana, car has a clean Montana title in the companies name, I am the northeast regional manager and have been using this almost daily as a company car for just under 3 years, as I have recently liberated a couple other company cars, I have been authorized to dispose of the vehicle here in Massachusetts to avoid the expense of shipping and refurbishing a car they do not need back in Montana. To be clear The car is currently located in Hull Massachusetts just south of Boston and I will be available to show the car to anyone interested in bidding on it.---------- ABOUT THE CAR. I drove this off a film shoot in New Mexico in Feb 2014 back to mass and have been driving it since, We were short a spot on the transport truck and it was wait 3 days in a motel for another truck or toss my bags in the car and go. Trip went good no mechanical issues at all, once home it sat 3 weeks freezing in my unheated barn and started right up when I got back to it. I have been using this year round, sun, snow and rain, Just a durable dependable car, Planned on keeping it forever but I have two 55 Chevy's here on a job and one is not going home. I have been through this impala pretty thoroughly and have built a few cars so I know what I am looking at, there has been some patchwork to the body, Car has 2 weak spots one was the factory strut rods which I replaced with adjustable global west units, Very nice, Noticeable difference, The 2nd is the 8.2 ten bolt rear end spider gears, The car was built with a 327 two speed and now has a 350 three speed that hits 2nd gear like a sledgehammer if you wind it up a little, could use a good posi unit, Eaton Etc, Here is everything I know so far.------------- THE CAR 1966 Chevy impala this is a factory non SS V8 2 speed car refitted with a 1969 350 4bolt and a T350 3speed it was 1 of 4 built identical for a shoot all red with 427SS trim. This one was already red, it got a light dusting of new red paint over what was already a clean straight car just a shade off in color, The SS trim package is complete, all interior and exterior badge work. shift was moved from column to console.------------- BODY Known Patchwork -I have seen no evidence of plastic filler looks like all work has been done with steel, aluminum and fiberglass and it was all done pretty well, Drivers floor-Glass over aluminum, Rockers-Glass over aluminum, Lower rear quarters-double wall steel, forward center trunk pan-glass over steel, That's it looks like original steel everywhere else. Body damage-one small dent in upper pass rear quarter right on body line (about the size of an adult index finger). Known paint issues- Paint burn from new red to old red- hood, roof, trunk. Bubbling- lower right trunk lid edge, Roofline above rear side windows both sides, lower right rear quarter, right front fender above bumper. All surface stuff nothing coming through from the back except maybe the trunklid edge. Car could be sanded smooth and repainted in a day or two.----------- BODY TAG chev impala V8 sport roof aztec bronze solid paint no vinyl, built Wilmington DE.-------------- DOORS Door steel is very good only minor corrosion on the lower lips which look untouched, Beltline stripping and channel runs are junk as well as the door hinges desperately need a rebuild, car comes with rebuild kits for the hinges and all new beltline and channel run stripping, It's $450 worth of rubber goods new in the box, So the doors can be restored for little or no money the parts come with it. ---------- INTERIOR Perfect black bucket seat interior, no rips, no squeaks, new clock new instrument lens, all gauges work except tach it's old works intermittently, all int lighting works as it should except int lights do not come on when the door is opened as I keep the door switches disconnected, They can be plugged back in easily. Headliner is perfect but needs to be repulled at the back sides, side and door panels are nice a few scars but no real damage, carpet is not great but there are hd winter mats in the car that cover most of the carpet anyway, Rear speaker deck needs a recover or replacement, there are 4 nice 6x9 pioneers in it, the 8 track in the dash is a dummy, there is a pioneer am fm cd usb under the dash with a remote. Dash cam if shown in pics does not come with the car. Interior is easily restorable with minor expense.------------- MOTOR TRANS- were pulled from a 1969 corvette that was driven backwards into a camera truck and totaled, the motor and trans had just been rebuilt and were put in the impala before it went to NM. both have under 15k on them right now.----------- MOTOR 3932386 1969 corvette 350 4 bolt 060 over, RV Cam Low 400s lift very drivable, runs at 180 all the time, Heads are 333882 70-80 350-400 1.94 1.50 76cc. Comp cam roller rockers. intake is edelbrock performer carb is edel 1406 cfm man choke. Valve covers are weeping, fuel pump gasket is weeping, both should be addressed -------------- TRANS- GM T350 B5PO13D with B&M shift kit, Built Sept 13 1975 in Cleveland, 1st 2.52-2nd 1.52-3rd 1-1 rev 1.94------------ WHEELS GM Factory 15x8 rally with dog dish caps 5 lug 4 3/4 bolt pattern----------- REAR AXLE stock 8.2 10 bolt 3.08 gears, new spider/planetary gears installed last year.----------- SUSPENSION springs, shocks, ball joints, strut rods(global west) are new, factory control arms- arm bushings are old none are sloppy just old I have all new urethane bushings new in the boxes that come with the car.------------- BRAKES manual drum all around, and they work perfectly, rears are a bit low, I have new rear drums and shoes that come with the car.----------- STEERING all new past 24 months------------ FRAME I have gone around the whole frame with real bright lighting personally, All of our cars are sprayed with a rust neutralizing oil when they come in so the chassis is in real good shape, However the shop in MT makes some alterations, The front of the car still has the camera truck mounts on it they are welded to the frame and two of the bumper brackets were notched to accommodate this, Forward perimeter rails were reinforced for the front lower camera bar, bar is off plates remain, additional trunk support cross member, this is for flight weight to balance the car if it leaves the ground, fortunately this was never flown not a scratch under the car. none of this hides the actual frame from inspection-------------. ELECTRICAL Excellent strong, I run stop and go errands on 95 degree days, I drive hours on the highway in the dead of winter with the wipers, stereo, heat, and lights on, No issues--------------- GLASS All Glass Is Good but door glass has scuffing in the lower back corners, all windows that are supposed to open and close do so.---------- EXHAUST Stock manifolds on heads, light leaks at front to midpipe connection, Kind of a sloppy mix of pieces but has worked for years, Would not hurt to replace it all.------------- ADDITIONALLY-Steering box seal is weeping, have new one comes with car, trunk lock is new, door locks are new but not installed, come with car, Trunk light works but it's unplugged. Rear e-brake cables are new stainless, front is not installed but comes with car. e-brake works. This car will likely pass inspection in any state.---------- SUMMARY I have some good pictures here, I have no lift to get underneath,The car is usually dirty as It is on the farm quite often, but it's a good dependable classic Chevy with no hidden issues, The company does not buy junk, and frankly rarely ever sells any of the fleet. If you need a picture of something specifi, or information I forgot to mention just ask, This is a turn key car I am driving it currently, It could use a bath and an oil change before a long trip, But you can drive it home, You will need plates and payment must be clear before it leaves. I can assist with pickup if using a shipper. The car is in Hull Ma and can be seen by you or your mechanic almost anytime.-------- PAYMENT CASH ON PICKUP.
