Chevrolet Camaro 1973 Description
Finished in its original code 24 Light Blue paint this gorgeous 1973 Camaro LT offers big performance in one of the best-looking F-body packages ever devised. This incredibly straight coupe also packs its original matching-numbers L48 engine and a 4-speed manual gearbox making it a great car to drive while it appreciates. The 1970 Camaro was a revolution and by 1973 the look was refined and aggressive. Thanks to a high-quality repaint in 1990 this particular Camaro coupe still looks great wearing its Light Blue paint which is one of the more unusual colors offered that year. The lack of stripes or other add-ons give it an edge and the paint and bodywork were expertly done because it's holding up quite well. Panel gaps are tight the sheetmetal is straight and the color is vivid without being overbearing. It's showing a few signs of age of course but you'll undoubtedly receive a ton of attention every time you take it out and it practically glows in a sea of red and black F-bodies. The '73 was the last year of the large center grille and an all-new fascia would debut in 1974 making this the one to own if you're a fan of the second-gen's look. Chrome is excellent including both bumpers and all the stainless is in very good condition. The car really is as nice as it looks in photos. With a blue car the only real interior choice is blue and the bucket seat interior in this Camaro is unrestored and highly original. High-back bucket seats show only minimal wear on their cloth seating surfaces gorgeous door panels wear burled wood appliques that actually looks pretty convincing and black carpets underfoot are the correct weave and nap. All the original instruments are housed in a wrap-around dashboard including the original tachometer which was part of the $82 Special Instrumentation package. You'll also be delighted to see that this car is equipped with factory air that is operational as well as an AM/FM radio that sounds decent. Note how clean the door jambs and hinges are and how neatly the doors fit all of which are important considerations in a second-gen F-body. Even the trunk is incredibly sanitary with a correct mat and a vintage bias-ply spare that may even be original. It's powered by its original numbers-matching L48 350 cubic inch V8 and rated at 175 horsepower but remember this was 1973 and new horsepower rating systems changed the numbers on paper but this same engine thumped out 210 horsepower just two years earlier. About ten years ago the engine bay was detailed and still looks fantastic accurately replicating the OEM look. Dig the reproduction GM-stamped hoses the tower hose clamps the Chevy Orange paint on the block all of which make for a show-worthy engine bay. A highly desirable 4-speed manual transmission feeds a set of 3.42 gears giving this car impressive off-the-line punch and the ability to cruise comfortably at highly illegal speeds. The undercarriage shows a light dusting of undercoating and the dual exhaust system uses a correct transverse muffler with pipes that have been painted black to help them stay out of sight. Finally handsome Rally-style wheels wear correct reproduction F70-15 Goodyear Polyglas bias-ply tires for just the right look. It's rather rare to find a second-generation Camaro that has not only been treated gently all its life but also remains stock today. Don't wait call on this one today!
