Chevrolet Other Pickups 1952 Description
Yes it looks like a 1954 1st Series 3100. The truck is registered and titled as a 1952 1st series pickup. According to the former owner the truck was rebuilt using a 1954 5 Window 3100 series as a donor. That is why it has a 54 Cab, grill, open drive-line, and a 235 6 Cylinder. For some reason after it was restored way back then it required an inspection by theWashington State Department of Licensing. That was done and an assigned VehicleIdentificationnumber was issued along with a new VIN tag riveted on by the Washington State Patrol. We verified all of this with the Washington State Department of Motor Vehicles andtransferredthe registration and title into our name. We also purchased new license plates and tabs so that we could drive it.
This is a very solid and straight truck right off the farm. From what we can tell it was originally green and white. It has a 235 6 Cylinder engine with a fullsynchro3 speed standard transmission. Starts instantly, and runs very strong and smooth. Compression is 140 psi even on all cylinders. Oil pressure at idle is 40 lbs. The clutch works great and no slippage. Transmission shifts easily. It has a 1960s "Hurst Mystery Shifter" on the floor. As you can see from the pictures there is little to no rust (cancer) and there is no plastic filler either. The bed sides are very straight as is the tailgate.
The electrics have been upgraded to 12 volt with an alternator. The windshield wiper motor 12 volt withintermittentfeature too. Heater works great. Lights and turn signals work as they should too.Glass is excellent with the exception of the wind wings, which are easy to replace flat glass. We put in a new (not used) gas tank, tank filler and cap and new tank sending unit and all new fuel lines. There is a box of small parts and a radio (have not tested the radio) included, as well as stock rear bumper brackets. The carburetor is rebuilt, new plugs and wires too. The engine runs sewing machinesmooth. This is a perfect Chevy truck to drive as is, restores, hot rod, or turn into a slammed Rat Rod.
