Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1955 Description
1955 Chevrolet BEL AIR 2 Door Post SedanUp for auction is my 1955 Chevy Bel Air 2 Door. This is a great example of a classic time machine in fairly original and complete condition. What's wonderful about this car is the amount of potential it as to be anything you desire it to be! As a classic it's a wonderful example of a vehicle that hasn't had much modification since it was new. Sure, it has a weathered look but it has almost all of its original chrome and many of its original parts. It runs, drives, and stops very well (please review the video below!) and is the type of vehicle even in its current un-restored condition you can just jump in and go. Its also has potential as a hot rod. If you're into that sort of aged patina look you could easily drop in a larger V8 engine and hot rod the vehicle all over town. Its a great base for a hot rod as it is very structurally sound and is a post car which is most desirable for larger displacement engines as the posts add extra support. Finally this would be a wonderful candidate for a full restoration; as I hope the next owner will choose this route as it is not to often anymore you find a 60 year old car this solid. Let's get to the specifics about what I mean below:
As I've mentioned above this is a rather complete and solid 1955 Chevy Bel Air. As I am told this is a southern car. I purchased the vehicle 2 years ago from a guy who lived in New Jersey. I am told he purchased it from a barn in Louisiana after it sat for quite sometime. He claimed he drove the vehicle back. It is possible. I have put about 2000 miles of local driving on it in the last two years and have enjoyed it thoroughly. It runs and drives well. The car reflects a vehicle that hasn't been around cold temperatures or snow. The body is very solid and just about rust free. There are 3 quarter sided spots of rust beginning, one on the drivers door, one below the rear trunk lid and one on the drivers rear quarter panel. That is it! This car is solid otherwise. These are not spots of concern either and should be easily repairable. The undercarriage is super clean and complete, again no rust or rot. A great base for any driver or restoration car. At one time someone replaced the drivers side floor pan. I don't know why. The rest of the floor is solid. When I purchased it I ran the VIN number. The original color of the car is Harvest Gold with a Green interior. It was special ordered this way. As you can see in the pictures that interior is still there. Although it could use refurbishing, it is complete! I was most surprised to find this is a REAL BEL AIR, not a 150 or a 210 car. This vehicle was ordered as a Bel Air with a 235 Inline 6 Cylinder and 2 Speed Powerglide Transmission. I am not sure how to distinguish whether or not it is a matching numbers car however both the engine and transmission remain and I would be hard pressed to believe someone removed the I6 only to replace it with another? Wouldn't make any sense. So although I am not advertising this vehicle as a matching numbers car it is more than likely a matching numbers vehicle! As I mentioned before it runs and drives well. Its not fast by any means but I was surprised to find that you can get on the highway with a 2 speed powerglide and drive at a consistent 70 MPH comfortably. Steering is what you would expect from a 60 year old car, however again highway driving is not an issue. It does have manual steering and manual brakes. The suspension is better than expected and it rides very well for what it is.
The only changes that were made to the vehicle collectively between myself and the previous owner are the Classic Cragar Wheels, it has some period correct Fenton headers on it with a side exit exhaust, a new wiring harness from the drivers cabin back, and was converted to a dual master cylinder (for safety) with a all new nickel copper brake lines front to back. Otherwise what you are looking at is an original car.
Please keep in mind when bidding on this auction this is a 60+ year old vehicle. With that said I believe it is better than 90% of the un-restored 60 year old vehicles you are going to find online. If you are interested in the car please review the video attached and if you have any questions do not hesitate to shoot me an email.
Buyer is responsible for setting up all facets of pick up/delivery or shipping of the vehicle.
