Chevrolet Camaro 1988 Description
This auction is for my 1988 IROC-Z Convertible. It's one of 3,761 IROC Z convertibles built in 1988. Not many were Triple black/5 speeds. The car has always been in Northern California not more than 50 miles from the dealer where it was sold new. 95K original miles. Average wear and tear for a 28 year old Camaro. Clean carfax. No accidents, or issues.
Completely rust free unmolested Iroc-Z. Adult owned, well maintained. Always covered, and never smoked in. It was purchased new from Woodward Chevrolet in Fairfield, CA.
Original documentation includes the build sheet(?) (something is under the driver seat), the trim sheet, original invoice, and maintenance history going back about 16 years. Just passed California emissions testing with no issues (have print out).
The car has Power windows, locks, tilt, cruise, electric trunk, G80 Posi (3.08), and factory a/c that still works (see RPO code list for all options). I have the original steering wheel which is in excellent condition. I'm only missing the original EQ stereo cassette radio.
The paint is original, and still shines well but is almost 30 years old. Dash pad has no cracks. All options work... lights, accessories.. even the cigarette lighter works. Weather stripping is in good shape. Driver seat shows a lot of wear. Other seats show some sun fade.
Convertible top frame rattles a little with the windows down and the top up (to be expected). The top works perfectly. The tires have about 19K, but are over 10 years old and should be replaced. The car handles like an IROC should, and runs/drives very well.
Not much else to say. It's not a perfect IROC by any means, but after nearly 30 years it's still a really nice cruiser. If you are looking for an original IROC that has not been beat to death, this is it. These cars are only going up in value.
