We have been selling only the best of the best vintage cars on Ebay since March of 2000.
Ninety nine percent of the time the cars we offer are cars we own.
It takes a very special car...and a very special owner for us to sell a car that we don't own.
This is one of those very special cars...and an equally very special owner.
Steve is a 1st class guy in every wayand this car is 1st class all the way!!!
I met Steve, the owner of this incredible Corvette, almost 35 years ago. I have personallybeen a vintage car owner since 1960...I met Steve in 1985 and he had recently movedto South Florida from Montreal Canada and opened up a Corvette specialty serviceand vintage car restoration facility.
Over the past 35 years, whenever I had a Corvette that was special and needed anythingdone to it, I have always taken it to Steve.
The quality of his work, along with his hard working ethics and incomparable honestyare just 3 of the reasons I love taking any of my cars to Steve.
This has been Steve's personally owned big block Corvette Coupe along with hisSpectacular Red 1967 Corvette Roadster.
He reluctantly has decided to sell this very special big block Coupe for all the right reasons. His shop is so busy he just doesn't have the time to drive this almost perfect, all matchingnumbers, big block factory air-conditioned sport coupe.
He said when he purchased this low mileage coupe many years ago, it was Riverside gold.Steve meticulously painted this car to it's current Can-Am white and in carefullyexamining this Vette, it is impossible to tell it was ever any other color other than Can Am white.
The meticulous body-on restoration was completed in 2009.However, Steve has had his car "freshened up" once or twice a yearand that is why it looks and drives like it was just finished.
The drive line in this car, specifically the engine, transmission and differential are the same thatwas in this Corvette when it left the Corvette factory in St. Louis back in 1969.
The interior is in amazing condition and other than the new carpeting, it is all factory original.
The hide-a-way wipers and hide-a-way head lights work perfect
Steve added an electric fan that is operated with a toggle switch under the dash. When yourstuck in trafficwith the AC on and the outside temperature is 95+, you'll be glad you cankeep this big block running at normal recommended operating temperatures.
He also added the gorgeous side mounted exhaust system.($3000) Not only dothey look great...they sound amazing.
All the gauges, lights, horn, radio, air-conditioning, horn and other accessories function correctly.
The disc brakes work great and this car tracks arrow straight...I had the pleasure of driving thisCorvette today on the Florida turnpike at 75-80 mph with the AC blowing ice cold.
This really is a "turn-key" magnificent highly collectible big block Vette that I wouldn't hesitateto drive coast to coast.
There is a very cleverly hidden anti-theft device in this car which will ONLY be revealed toit's new owner.
The 4/speed M-21 close-ratio manual transmission shifts perfect.....and is a real joy to drive.
The clutch is easy to depress and works to perfection
The brakes in this Corvette are Excellent
The AC blows Ice Cold.
Steve install an electric fan which can be turn on & offwith the simple flick under the dash in easy reach of the driver.
Synchros are perfect...no grinding in any gears!
Steve did an amazing ground up restoration on his car and paid great attention not just tothe cosmetic looks but to everything mechanical & electrical as well. He said there was noreason to take the body off the car to restore it as it was and is a car with no rust issues.
During the restoration he remove the fuel tank and found the "tank" sticker...but itwas in too poor of condition to save.
The owner's manual with the car is the 1969 ORIGINAL one...not a reproduction.
It comes with beautiful Corvette floor mats and a pair of like new storage coversfor the factory T-tops.
When Steve purchased this car in 200, he had looked at100's of Corvette Coupes before deciding on this car.
He selected this car because it was a low mileage car inoriginal condition.
He pulled the engine & transmission and inspected them both very carefullyto see if they needed to be rebuilt...but after a careful inspection neitherit was determined needed to be rebuilt.
Every component was removed from the engine compartmentwhile all new seals and gaskets were installed in both the motorand the transmission.
The engine compartment was professionally restored to "AS NEW" original conditionwith new motor and transmission mounts installed.
A new clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing were installed along with the4/Speed original Muncie transmission.
All new brake lines, calipers, and rotors were installed as werea new starter and alternator.
The entire air-conditioning system was gone through and a new AC compressor, evaporator, condenser, AC lines and drier utilized.
All the hoses were replaced and a new Harrison GM radiator,u-joints, shocks, and suspension parts installed.
Recently the air & oil filter were replace, Mobil One Oil and all newcoolant was installed.
The original factory carburetor was rebuilt, fresh plugs installed and the radio rebuilt.
This incredible car still retails it's factory original leather interiorbut new carpeting was installed
A new AC blower motor, clutch for clutch fan,all new belts, a new 160 thermostat and a newDelcobattery were installed.
Brand new correct new vacuum parts & hoses for the headlights and wiper door, were installed and anew power brake booster and Master Cylinder were installed.
When Steve painted this car to perfection, all the gaps weremeticulouslyfashioned and fittedto perfection. The fit and finish on this car are vastly superior than they werewhen this car left the factory in St. Louis back in 1969.
I recently asked Steve if knew precisely how much he has spent on his Corvetteand he said...."I know it's somewhere between $90,000 to $100,000 but I long losttrack of the 1000's of man hours in labor our shop put into my Corvette. He further said"If someone were to bring into our shop an original, never hit mid 1960's big block Corvetteand want the fit and finish to match that of this car, I would have to charge aminimumof$35,000 and I would need to have one year to complete the job.
