Buick LeSabre 1962 Description
1962 BUICK LESABRE SPORT COUPEThis is a '62 buick lesabre coupe that appears to be 100% original. I've had this car for a long time and considered keeping it but I have a lot of cars and I've decided to sell this one. The car has the original wheels, hubcaps, jack and spare. This year of lesabre had the simulated convertible top with "bows" in the rear area of the roof. The car is very solid with little rust. This car needs restored but I personally like the patina and would drive it as-is. The engine runs, but it will need some mechanical work before being a driver. This is buicks version of the impala but I personally like the buick better and they are rare to see around. Here are the details on the car. Clear title.
MECHANICAL
This car has the wildcat 401 nailhead V8 with 3-speed automatic transmission. It has the original air cleaner with wildcat painted on it. The engine will run but is not driveable. I just filled the carb with fuel and primed it to get it running. I would expect it may need a fuel pump but it may just need fuel put in the tank. The carburetor needs rebuilt and the throttle shaft is stuck. The engine did run good though when I got it started and did not smoke or knock. It also needs a waterpump and I'm sure will need other minor maintenance and fluids changed. The transmission did appear to work but I could only go forward and reverse slowly due to not being able to apply throttle. The transmission most likely is fine but I could not test the 2nd and third forward gears. I did not run the engine long since the water pump was not working. I made sure it didn't get hot. The brakes don't work but could just need bled. I would expect they need some maintenance at least though. This car does have power steering but manual brakes. Usually it is easy to convert to power brakes and impala parts are probably the same. The car needs tires also. It rolls and steers fine for loading.
BODY
This car is original and has original paint with no filler. The body is very straight. There is one dent in the drivers rear quarter that is not bad and hard to see in the pics. The car has rust in the front floorpans. They may make buick specific replacement floorpans but impala ones are probably the same and I know those are available. The rear pans are fine. The trunkpan is solid but has rust pitting. It will be fine and last forever I'm sure with POR-15 and a new trunk seal. The rear quarters have very minor rust above the rear wheels. This is in the flat outer part only, and not in the wheelhouses. It will be basic for a bodyman to repair them with metal. The doors, trunk and hood open/close properly. The frame, doors, hood, fenders, jams, sills, firewall, roof, rear deck, rockers, etc. etc. are nice. The windshield is scratched but usable. The paint is not nice but I would drive it.
INTERIOR
This car has the original interior. It has a really cool looking dash and it is un-cut. The seats are original with old-school seat covers that are in rough shape. It pretty much needs the interior re-done but it's all there. If you wanted to use it for a low-budget rod, you could get by with a carpet and seat covers.
This buick is used, old, vintage, classic, and sold as-is. Thanks and happy bidding.
