Buick Other 1969 Description

1969 Buick GS 400. Canary yellow with Pearl white interior. The car was built in Flint, I and is a true GS. The original engine has been upgraded to the faster 455 prior to my ownership. It retains thethree speed turbo hydra-matic 400 automatic transmission. The original paint color was Antique Gold Poly and was repainted by previous owner. The interior is all original. Odometer reads 24,003. The electric top works perfectly. Brand new tires all around. The original radio and 8-track player work. AC works. The car starts right up everytime and runs strong. It is super fast and ridiculously fun to drive! Lots of thumbs up and head's turned. Only 1,303 convertible GS 400s were built in 1969, aking it quite the rare bird.
In 1968 and 1969 Buick offered the GS 400 in a convertible and hardtop model. Standard issue of the GS 400 was a 400 cubic inch (6.6L) engine (with likely lower stated horsepower rating to keep insurance premiums lower) of 340 horsepower (350hp stage 1 ) and 440ft. lbs. torque, four barrel Rochester carburetor, ual exhaust, .93 standard gear ratio optional ( limited slip differential, 3.64 stage 1 option, .42 with A/C ), nd the available three speed turbo hydra-matic 400 automatic transmission (revered as the finest automatic transmission ever built), shape shifter and linkage, ocated at the front of a center console. A 1968 or 1969 GS400 equipped with the TH400 auto transmission was faster off the line, nd up to 70mph than the 4-speed GS455 to come. Shift pattern for the TH400 Park, everse, eutral, rive, econd, irst. A standard 3 spd or optional 4 spd manual gearbox was also available. Compression ratio on this engine was a very sensible 10.25:1, hich allowed for the use of any grade gasoline to be used in normal driving without pinging.the GS 400 got standard functional hood scoops for '69, omething none of its higher-profile corporate siblings had. The "Cool Air" induction system used a twin-snorkel air cleaner with two foam muffs that sealed against the scoop openings. Buick said the system increased peakhorsepowerby eight percent and peak torque by six percent over the entire rpm range, hough thecar's base 400-cid V-8 retained the 340-bhp rating from '68.
