Buick Electra 1969 Description
1969 Buick Electra 225 Loaded with options 120K miles 2 owners No Reserve AuctionUp for bids is this sharp '69 Buick Electra 225 convertible. This car was bought new in Portland at Braley-Graham Buick and has had 2 local owners since new. The car has recently benefitted from $2000 worth of service work to bring it up to tip-top shape. It runs and drives beautifully and is ready for top down summertime cruising. The car is selling at No-Reserve the high bidder owns the car. The car has had one high quality repaint - trim-off bumpers off with all weatherstripping replaced. The paint is beginning to show some age-related flaws in spots but overall looks pretty sharp. The massive body panels on this Buick are straight as a string a super nice body with zero rust issues and no waviness or orange peel. Tires are in great shape with good tread.
The car's biggest flaw is some pimpling on the hood shown in the first photo below. The car was stored over a winter with a car cover that became damp and the paint finish suffered from it. The hood got the worst of it with some small isolated areas elsewhere. The majority of the paint is really sharp kind of a shame but there you have it. All brightwork on the car is crisp and clean with no pitting. All of the car's glass is excellent including the windshield.
Panel fit throughout the car is very good. Both bumpers still show their original plating and are in terrific condition with no dents and no pitting.
The soft top is original and still in good shape. It has nice fit and weatherstripping and the door glass lines up perfectly. The trunk compartment is clean and carries the original jacking equipment.
The interior is all original right down to the carpet.
The upholstery is all in good condition door panels as well this car seats six comfortably.
Electa 225's were loaded; this car has power windows power seat cruise A/C speed minder power antenna and top AM/FM radio and 8-track. All are in good operating condition except for the cruise control. The A/C compressor clicks on correctly but is not blowing cold. The radio and 8-track operate but the volume is low. Dash pad is in great shape with no cracks.
You'll like the way this Buick runs and drives. Starts easily and runs very strongly with no smoke or abnormal noise. Has gobs of power and cruises down the road like only these big barges can. This car was further optioned with rare disc brakes in front I recently sent them out for a full rebuild and they carry a lifetime warranty. Some of you in the know will smile and nod about that the Electra 225 calipers are extremely rare and there's basically one outfit in the entire US that rebuilds them so a lifetime warranty is peace of mind indeed.
The family I bought the car from had their mechanic go through it completely before listing it for sale he had maintained this car since the 80s. The car was part of an estate liquidation and the family gave him a blank check to do whatever was needed. The included $1968.55 service receipt shows a carb overhaul complete fluid change and tune-up fuel tank restoration with new sending unit new brake hoses and wheel cylinders new master cylinder turned rotors and new pads up front. The calipers themselves still needed work so I wrote the $check$ for that. The result is a car that is now at the top of its game smooth running powerful and ready to fingertip steer to the horizon.
The undercarriage is very sound the exception being some corrosion underneath the battery tray. The remainder is super solid; great floor pans frame and sills - a well preserved Oregon example of a Classic American Land Yacht.
