Buick Other 1950 Description
I'm selling my 1950 Buick Special Riviera! This is a nice example of an all original 1950. The car starts, runs and drives well and the original 263 straight eight, detailed motor can hardly be heard at idle. She has right at 40,000 original miles on her and the previous owner used to write me just to "check up on the Buick". It has never been painted except from some factory touch below the stainless trim on the sides. The body is rust free and is straight. There is some surface rust (only) on the frame. Color is dark Mediterranean Blue (almost black) and carries with it some patina from years of washing, waxing, etc., but again, paint is original. Wide whitewall radials all the way around, with new brakes. Drives very well on the expressway and looks good on the street. Front tires could stand balancing and is evident at around 55 mph. New brakes and cylinders all around when I bought it going on three years ago. Spare tire in beautiful condition in trunk. Looks new. All chrome and stainless trim in great shape. Lights including headlights, tail lights, turn signals, parking lights, back-up lights all work as they should. That's the Outside. On the inside, the radio, under seat heater, horn, turn signal indicator, interior dome light and glove box light ALL work. Wipers work as well, but I have only checked them against a dry windshield and they are slow. Never drove this car in the rain. I keep it covered. The seats are of the original material and both the front and rear seats look as new. She has a full floor carpet set in her installed by Bannisters Upholstery and there is no rust underneath. Door panels, door rubber rubber, window lace, seals and trim are spot on. Headliner is beautiful. Look at the photos! The dash and beautiful dials on the instrument panel (including radio) are composed of massive pieces of shiney chrome and the original steering wheel is "crack free" and is in itself, a piece of art. When you switch on the ignition with the original keys, the gas gauge needle, for some reason, always flips over to the "full" position. All glass is in place on the car and is in great condition. Zero cracks. That's the Inside. The Motor is a problem-free, nice running straight inline eight, original to this car and has been detailed on the top side. It doesn't burn oil, doesn't smoke, runs quiet and the Dynaflow Automatic Transmission transfers the energy from the straight eight motor back to the rear wheels effortlessly. Engine compartment is clean but has not been detailed. Reason for selling: We have found our 1950 Buick "fastback dream car" and have decided to let this Riviera sedan go. You will love this Buick and what it represents as a marque to it's year. On the day it arrived and I saw it, it was in such good condition that I decided right then and there I would never paint it. Great example of an all original, quiet running 1950 Buick Riviera that's looking for a good home. Can be picked up locally. Otherwise, buyer pays all shipping and handling costs. Sold as is, with no warranties stated or implied. Will accept Paypal, bank check, etc. I am advertising this car locally and vehicle is subject to be removed from Ebay is sold off site. Please ask questions if you have any?
