Buick Grand National 1987 Description
Its difficult to describe a car that you personally have over 500 hours into. This is the culmination of all that i have learned over 25 years of working on cars. I wanted to build a mid twelve second car that can be driven regurlarly and if need be, turn up the boost and go deep elevens (motor is built for north of 25psi). That being said, i wasnt planning on starting a new family again, but God has blessed me with the opportunity and Im faced with making this decision. I do it gladly however. i just want this car to find its way into an appreciative home. Lets see, where should i start. well, the car has been body off restored. The frame has been sandblasted and coated. All the suspension and body bushings (including the gnx ones) replaced with poly. Trailing arms replaced with quality units with boxed adjustable uppers. All the lines are stainless. New gas tank and racetronics pump and ss sender with hotwire. Bilstein shocks, lowering springs with welded in adjustable spring base at rear and 2 inch drop spindles up front.New steering box and lower column section. E brake cables all around. Brakes are new(every component), but factory, sorry no upgrades here. The transmission is rebuilt with new hard parts and the best frictions. A quality 2800 stall converter works amazing with this moderate setup. The motor has absolutely the works. Forged rotating assembly, with billet center caps and all ARP fasteners. Roller cam, roller rockers, HD pushrods and two piece rear main, internally balanced, with new neutral balancer and flexplate. Blueprinted front cover and oil pump. Stock intercooler with Duttweiller neck. New 40 lb injectors, all new accessories including, water pump, ac compressor, alternator etc. New RJC Caspers wiring harness, coil, module, injector harness. Aluminum radiator with dual fans, all new Relays, switches etc...New ballbearing turbo (44). New stainless 3 inch down pipe, and ss crossover to new stainless 3 inch exhaust system, straight through style single muffler dual exit system. Sounds great. Interior is completely redone. New seat covers(highway stars top fabric), new carpet and all underpading, new seatbelts front and rear, new upper and lower door panels, sill plates, pull straps etc...Restored dash and console, upgraded concert sound system with cd and usb and bluetooth. Nothing crazy but sounds nice. new headliner, forward dash trim, carpeted deck cover. Basically everything new. Youre getting the picture. new weatherstripping, whole car, oh and the dash was sent to Caspers for their chip upgrades so the rpm and boost work perfectly. New guages on console and above in t top center, including oil, fuel, temp, and boost. New ecm, tt chip and scanmaster for that retro look, Trunk was completely cleaned up and recoated with full carpeting thats perfect. The body work is excellent. Car is straight as an arrow. Two stage factory color, cut and polished, the paint is truly masterful. Have all the new emblems but thought i might leave it up to the new owner if they wanted them on the car cause it looks beautiful as it sits. New Spoolfool one piece rear filler, new fronts of course, new headlight bezels, trim, corner markers etc. New air dams. Wheels were custom ordered from Bonspeed. They fit perfect and look phenomenal. They are 17 by 10 with 275 40s in the back and 17 by 8 with 245 45s up front. Tires are Falken. Well, there you have it, and ive probably left out a bunch of stuff. Just the nuts and bolts in this car cost a small fortune. You get the picture guys, its like someone said that money was no object on this car and you went for it. And then had to put a number on that car. Well, quite simply, here is my number. Let me add that i have seen many garage queens over the years and they all have decay and rust, The seals are petrified and parts become brittle over time. They are not showroom codition after 30 years of sitting. Who wants to spend huge dollars for a car that needs everything gone over? Good luck
