Buick Other 1958 Description
1958 Buick Limited Convertible
MAGNIFICENT & RARE !
Absolutely breathtaking 1958 Buick Limited Convertible. Everything about the car is terrific and a very rare "survivor" car. 1958 Buicks are the pinnacle of 1950's chrome and design flair. These Limited's are RARE...RARE...RARE. Exterior One repaint in the original color was very well done and was recently color sanded and buffed. Even when you are up close the paint looks great. I see no paint cracking or evidence of it being "thin". All in all an excellent repaint. Chrome is excellent....restoration of a 1958 Buick is just far too expensive if you must redo all the chrome and stainless! Prior owner told me that all chrome was original except for the rear top bumper bar. I do see some minor bubbling on the long mid-hood trim spear. Just look at all the photos (and click on them to see the highly detailed files)...it is almost unbelievable that this is essentially all ORIGINAL. All stainless around the windows is essentially perfect. Glass is near perfect with a minor windshield ship at top of drivers side. Essentially no bubbles or fogging that I see. All rubber is in great shape as well. We can not see any evidence of rust or rust repairs! Interior The seats were covered in the original Buick seat covers and the prior owner observed when they were removed to reveal the beautiful original cloth....still soft and beautiful! All vinyl and the package tray appear to be original. Headliner was replaced with matching original material from SMS within the last 5 years and is flawless. Carpet is deep and luxurious but has a couple of holes near the transmission tunnel which indicates something was mounted there at one time. All interior chrome and stainless is excellent. All components work with the exception of the windshield wipers (we're in the process of giving it a try). Speedometer (as is typical of this design) does not function properly but we have a rebuilt unit you can install. Radio plays but needs an overhaul to work well. Mechanical Engine compartment and undercarriage have recently been thoroughly cleaned & detailed (a dirty, expensive and detailed process). The engine runs very well, as plenty of power and is smooth through all RPM ranges. The choke does not seem to work though. The cooling system works exceptionally well as she stays cool in traffic on warm days. Power steering is fine with no hesitations. Brakes are strong but seem to pull. We inspected them and the linings have plenty of wear left. She runs & drives beautifully. There are no driveline vibrations at any speed. The original and rare Flightpitch Dynaflow is a wonder in itself.....the most advanced continuously variable hydraulic transmission ever developed. And it works beautifully with no leaks! We just installed a brand new factory proper exhaust system from manifold to rear bumper and it does have that famous "Buick Burble". Driving Drives wonderfully with an absolute minimum of air leaks. It does have a little wobble that I strongly believe may be the tires. The tires look terrific, ot cracked and have plenty of tread but in my experience when a car sits for long periods the tires can develop some out-of-round that can be solved with some long drives. History This was a long time Nebraska car and I have the original sales receipt (see 2nd photo below). There were just two Nebraska owners between 1958 and the early 2000's. The car has obviously been extremely well cared for as you can see in the photos. A collector in South Carolina bought the car in the early 2000's and then the gentleman whom I purchased the car bought it about 2007. The things that I would suggest the new owner do is to install the rebuilt speedometer I have, lean the trunk material, nd perhaps take a long drive or investigate the tires. In my prior auction I mentioned a tune-up however we found that the intake manifold gasket was leaking as well as the carb base gasket. Notice that the lighters and jack are not shown in the photos...I have them and they are included. EXTRAS INCLUDED I have acquired a fantastic option that are is currently installed. First I have a complete original air conditioning system. This includes all mechanical components, ash controls, ents, tc. The compressor, vap, t. are all completely rebuilt. I also have a complete headlight dimming system ready for installation!Next I have a complete Autronic Eye system that is rebuilt and is the correct specific unit for this car! I've sold lots of cars and have really superb feedback. This is one of the nicer cars I've owned and the new owner will absolutely love it! The comments you get when driving are wonderful.
