Buick Riviera 1963 Description
Purchased this Riviera from an Arizona collector in June 2000. He was a member of the Riviera Owners Association, ROA. He drove car to events, enjoyed winning club awards, see in trunk 1996award ribbon.He had the car repainted in the original Navajo White color at that time.Shipped to Illinois where i have been driving it, andworking on things as needed,
2003 Rebuild front end, steering components and rubber bushings. New front and rear springs and shocks. Did not replace any rear end suspension bushings.Converted to front disc brakes, using conversion kit from HFL Originals, new brake booster and master cylinder. Replaceddrive shaft center support bearing and 2 u joints.
2004 Rebuilt starter, changed tires to wide whites radials. New heater core and recored originalradiator with hoses and belts. New K N high flow washable air filter for 401 motor 445 hp. Carter 4 barrelcarb. Changed fuel filter by carb.Installed electric choke on carb. Interior dash gaugecold motor indicator light works and turns off when engine reaches operating temperature.
2011 Re-chromed front and rear bumpers, had minor damage to left quarter panel fixed, from parking lot shopping cart dent. Paint buffed out.Have body shop invoice.
2017 Recently replaced both doors roof rail rubber weather strip and door glass fuzzy strips. Have new rear windowfuzzy strips, but did not install them. Pulled both door skins and greased window rollers and window crank gears, inside doors rust free.
Never any problem with motor or transmission, runs fine, still running old style ignitionpoints and changed ignition parts as needed. Fresh oil change done along with greased front end. A/C never ran, have condenser and original hoses and parts that go with car. Heat works. Radio works, am only. Wipers and headlights work.New battery installed June 2016.
Always starts right up, good dependable driver that getsmany complements, Pretty color combination, Bright trim looks great with re chromed bumpers. All glass fine, with minor scratch at top front driver side window. Was rubbing on old weather strip screw.See under car photos, rust free AZ car. See photos, minor hood 2 bubble spots by front above radiator. 2 minor paint burn thru at hood sharp edges in center of hood. 4 paint chips at top edge of pass fender. I touched up with white paint to protect metal. Over all paint shows well, but not perfect.
Original interior, shows wear for its age. Carpet in good shape for the age. Seat foam tired.But still nice looking. I have described the car and condition, to the best of my ability, a very nice looking car, of course thebest way to judge is to have an inspection done.Car located in Skokie, Il 60077. No dash pad cracks, See trunk pictures, have dashfabric topper cover. 4 floor matts carpet matches original color. I pulled back edges trunk original matt to show rust free condition. Headliner in original condition not ripped up but shows wear.Horn doesn't work. Maybe stuck relay at battery terminal? Never opened up that relay to find out..Replaced steering column turn signal switch, have two spares in trunkfor parts. Hard to find part.
