It is hard to believe but 1983 was over 30 years ago and this amazing automobile transports you back each time you see it and with every drive. The ‘83 Buick brochure states there is “…no such thing as an everyday Electra” That is very true of this car, nd an opportunity like this certainly doesn’t come along everyday.
This auction allows you a chance to own a true time capsule. A top of the line 1983 Buick Electra Park Avenue sedan with 920 original miles. Really, 20 miles since new!
The car was originally purchased by a physician who was unable to drive because of failing health. It was driven for less than six months in 1983. After that it was part of an extremely well cared for collection in Texas. I purchased the car from the Texas collection where was for quite some time. Details on the Carfax report confirm the vehicle’s ultra-low mileage.
I have no doubt that this is the finest examples of a1983 Electra to be found – anywhere!
It is finished in Autumn Maple Firemist Metallic and sports a matching padded halo vinyl top and gold accent stripes on the body. The paint is in amazing condition and is deep and lustrous. The styled Buick wheels give this car an iconic look. The interior of the car is trimmed in a complimentary shade of oxblood. The leather seats are as soft and supple as you’d expect and are amazingly comfortable. With the exception of the 8-track player, ll the accessories on-board work as they should. The Electronic Touch Climate Controls are fully functional and the AC blows nice and cold! The Concert Sound System sounds amazing! Slipping behind the wheel of this Electra Park Avenue is a treat – it looks and feels like a brand-new car!
The paint is spectacular! The deep finish is 100% original with the exception of the plastic bumper filler panels. As is common with 80’s GM cars, hey needed to be updated due to age. I replaced the filler panels after having the paint professionally color-matched.
The extensive brightwork, hrome and stainless trim are in fabulous shape with no pitting or scratching. Just like the day the car rolled off the showroom floor. Glass on the car is the factory “Safety Flo-Lite” all around. One of my favorite things is the sticker in the right rear side window that advertises Buick as a sponsor of the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles! Badges and emblems are perfect. Lenses and surrounding trim are as new and even the distinctive electroluminescent coach lamps on each b-pillar work perfectly. The chrome finish on the wheels are not perfect but they present well.
The engine compartment is the tidiest you’ll find given how little the car has been used. It has been preserved to day-one standards. The tell-tale part of most any car is the undercarriage. This car’s is in amazing condition looking like the car did back in 1983.
The interior of the car is a luxury lounge. The leather is amazing with no wear or damage. The carpeting is incredibly soft and shows no signs of wear or soiling. Matching carpeted floor mats are included. The wood-like trim on the doors and dash is flawless – including the narrow strip on the face of the steering wheel. The velour trim on the door panels is perfect. The aroma inside is exactly what a 1983 Buick should smell like – in 1983! It is the real “new car smell”! The ashtray and cigar lighters have never been used. I replaced the headliner with an exact match since the old one began to sag due to age – another common problem with 80’s GM cars. Both the driver and front passenger have power seats. The marketing materials for the car say 6-way power but I count 8-way adjustability on both sides and the front passenger seat has the optional power recliner option. And the electroluminescent “Park Avenue” accent lighting on the dash works as it should!
Inside the glove box is the optional electric trunk release. Once open, ou’ll see a flawless luggage compartment. It is cavernous and it’s hard to believe that the trunk has ever been used at all.
The car comes with some terrific documentation such as: the original owner’s manual, elco radio manual and warranty booklet. Registration and insurance cards from the original owner as well as a guide to the “revolutionary” space-saving spare tire and the hang-tag with twilight sentinel operating instructions. There’s even a letter to the original owner on Buick Motor Division letterhead thanking him for his purchase and expressing their commitment to customer service!
This is truly an automobile from a different time that should be cherished, njoyed and preserved.
